This is a good example of how most of what Jed says on the forum is misunderstood by his audience. It happens because everything emanates from the reality of each individual, that which surrounds them, but most of his audience have no notion of what Jed’s reality is. Hence, the skewed perceptions.

Jed’s reply relates to the mines which are dotted all over in many border areas of Cambodia. Going into the jungle (for sex, as he suggests above) can be a life threatening enterprise.
He wasn’t ‘playing’ in this particular instance. But the person got pleased with the ‘surprise’ created in their mind by the reply, and so the process of building up a teacher’s image as (witty, surprising, humourous.. etc.) is shaping up.
